He also achieved the fastest 100 in ODI in this innings. De Villiers eventually finished with a score of 149 off just 44 balls.

Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya holds the record for scoring the second fastest ODI fifty. Chasing a small target of 215 runs against Pakistan in the 1996 Singer Cup Final, Jayasuriya reached his 50 in just 17 balls. He was dismissed for 76 runs and Sri Lanka got all out for 172.

New Zealand’s Martin Guptill matched the figures of the second fastest 50 in an ODI against Sri Lanka in the same year. Chasing a low target of 118 runs in Christchurch, Guptill raced to his fifty in 17 balls and was unbeaten on 93 off 30 balls.
5) Liam Livingstone (ENG): 17 balls (vs Netherlands, Amstelveen 2022)
England’s Liam Livingstone scored the joint second-fastest 50 in ODI cricket. He reached his fifty in 17 balls against Netherlands on June 17, 2022. He finished with an unbeaten 66 off 22 balls and England made 498 runs in 50 overs.
