England is first on the list of the successful run chases in T20 World Cups. England chased down South Africa's total of 229 at Mumbai on 18 March 2016. Joe Root's brilliant 83 off 44 balls and contributions from Jason Roy (43 off 16) and Jos Buttler (21 off 14) helped England maintain the required run rate and win in the final over with two wickets remaining.

South Africa (208/2 vs West Indies, 2007)

In the inaugural T20 World Cup, South Africa chased down the West Indies' big target of 205. Herschelle Gibbs played a spectacular innings, scoring an unbeaten 90 off 55 balls, supported by Justin Kemp's 22-ball 46. This successful chase is the second-highest run chase in T20 World Cup history.

USA (197/3 vs Canada, 2024)

USA is third on the list of the highest run chases in the T20 World Cup. Chasing 195 runs against debutant Canada in the opening match of the 2024 T20 World Cup, USA were 45/2 in 7 overs. Andries Gous scored 65 off 46 and Aaron Jones remained unbeaten on 94 off 40 balls. USA completed the chase in 17.4 overs, their highest in T20 cricket.

West Indies (196/3 vs India, 2016)

West Indies chased down India's competitive total of 192 in the 2016 T20 World Cup semifinal. Lendl Simmons and Andre Russell lead the charge. Simmons's 82 off 51 balls and Russell's 43 off 20 balls ensured West Indies reached the target easily, showing their power-hitting skills and chasing large totals in high-pressure situations.

Australia (197/7 vs Pakistan, 2010)

Australia is fifth on the list of the highest run chases in the T20 World Cup. Chasing 192 runs against a strong Pakistan bowling attack in the 2010 T20 World Cup semifinal, Australia lost early wickets. Michael Hussey was the star for Australia, scoring 60 off 24 balls. Hussey stunned Saeed Ajmal in the final over with 22 runs and sealed a dramatic win.

Netherlands (193/4 vs Ireland, 2014)

Netherlands is fifth on the list of highest successful run chases in T20 World Cup. Needing to chase down 190 runs in 14.2 overs to qualify for the Super 10 stage,  Netherlands completed the chase in 13.5 overs. Stephan Myburgh scored 63 off 23 balls, and Tom Cooper (40 off 22) and Wesley Barresi (45 off 15) added the finishing touches. 

England (190/4 vs Sri Lanka, 2014)

England for the second time in the list of highest run chases in the T20 World Cup. Sri Lanka set a target of 190 runs and 2 wickets in the first over of the chase. Eoin Morgan scored 57 off 38 balls, and Alex Hales was unbeaten on 116 runs (third-highest individual score in the T20 World Cup). England won the match in the final over with six wickets in hand.    

West Indies (183/4 vs England, 2016)

The West Indies power-hitting was on full display in the 2016 T20 World Cup. They chased down England 183 runs in the 19th over. Chris Gayle hit the fastest century in T20 World Cup history (100 off 47 balls) and was supported by contributions from Marlon Samuels and Andre Russell. This is the third-highest run chase of the T20 World Cup.  

Australia (186/5 vs Scotland, 2024)

Australia again features on the list of the highest run chases in the T20 World Cup. Chasing 181 runs against Scotland in the 2024 T20 group match in St. Lucia, Australia lost early wickets. Travis Head (68) and Marcus Stoinis (59) were the star for Australia. The 2021 champions won in the final over and knocked Scotland out of the T20 World Cup. 

England (181/2 vs West Indies, 2024)

England appear for the third time on the list of the top 10 highest run chases in the T20 World Cup. Chasing 181 runs against hosts West Indies in the 2024 T20 World Cup Super 8 match in St. Lucia, Phil Salt and Jos Buttler put on 67 runs for the 1st wicket. Then, Bairstow's and Salt's 97-run partnership took the team home. Phil Salt was the Player of the Match for his unbeaten 87 runs off 47 balls.
