20 November 2023 BCCI announced the India cricket team squad for the five T20Is against Australia. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side for the first time, with Ruturaj Gaikwad as the vice-captain for the first three games. Deepak Chahar and Shreyas Iyer will join the squad for the last two matches.
All the players of the ODI World Cup squad are rested, except Suryakumar, Ishan Kishan and Prasidh Krishna. Axar Patel, who was ruled out of the World Cup with injury, is back alongside Washington Sundar. Hardik Pandya has not recovered from the injury during the World Cup match against Bangladesh.
