The 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to be played from March 29 to May 26, 2024. The 2024 IPL will have 10 teams - Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants, Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad. 

Chennai Super Kings are the defending champions, having won the 2023 IPL, beating Gujarat Titans by five wickets.

IPL 2024 Auction Details

The IPL Auction 2024 was held on December 19, 2023, in Dubai from 1 pm IST. 333 players (214 Indians, 119 overseas) registered for the auction. A total of 60 players were retained from the previous season by the ten teams. A total of 72 players were sold during the auction, 30 of which were overseas.

Mitchell Starc (24.75 Cr), Pat Cummins (20.50 Cr), Daryl Mitchell (14 Cr), Harshal Patel (11.75 Cr), and Alzarri Joseph (11.5 Cr) were the five highest-sold players in the 2024 auction.
