20 Aug 2023 Kandy beat Dambulla by 5 wickets in the Final of the Lanka Premier League 2023. Kandy wins its 1st LPL title. Wanindu Hasaranga (Kandy) is the leading run scorer with 279 runs and the highest wicket taker with 19 wickets.
The fourth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) will be played from 30 July to 20 August 2023 in Sri Lanka. The league was founded in 2018 by Sri Lanka Cricket and the first season was played in 2020. The first match of the 2023 season was between 3-time winners Jaffna and Colombo on 30th July 2023 at 7:30 PM IST at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
Five teams based out of major SL cities like Colombo, Kandy, Jaffna, Dambulla, and Galle will take part in the fourth season. All the previous three seasons were played during the months of November and December.

Lanka Premier League 2023 Schedule
The 2023 edition of the Lanka T20 League will have a total of 24 games (20 group-stage matches and 4 playoffs fixtures) played during the tournament. The evening matches have a start time of 3 PM IST and the night matches will start at 7:30 PM IST.
In the group stage, every team will play against each other only once. The top 4 teams will qualify for the playoffs - Eliminator, Qualifier 1, Qualifier 2 and the Final. The final will be played on 20 August 2023. Two venues - R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo and Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Kandy will host all the matches.

Lanka Premier League 2023 Team Squads
Every team can include a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 24 players, i.e. six international players and 14-19 domestic players.
For the first time, the teams acquire players through an auction (held on 14 June 2023). In the first 3 seasons, it was done through a draft. Every team was allowed to directly sign 2 local and 2 overseas players before the auction. On match days, 4 overseas players are allowed in the playing 11.
