IPL 2024 is already witnessing some monstrous hits from the biggest names in the game. Leading the charge is KKR's Andre Russell, who has smashed the longest six of the ongoing season so far - a 102-meter blast against SRH at the iconic Eden Gardens. However, the record for the longest six in IPL history still belongs to Albie Morkel, who hit a 125-meter six back in 2008. With the tournament in full swing for another two months and featuring some of the biggest hitters, Morkel's long-standing record could be challenged and broken.
List of Top Sixes in the History of IPL
The record for the longest six in IPL history is held by South African batsman Albie Morkel, who hit a massive 125-meter six during the inaugural IPL season in 2008. Here is the list of the longest sixes in IPL history:
1. Albie Morkel - 125 meters (CSK vs Deccan, 2008)
CSK's Albie Morkel holds the record for hitting the longest six in IPL history, he smashed Deccan Chargers' spinner Pragyan Ojha for a six that was measured at 125 meters in 2008 IPL Season. Even after more than 16 years, this is one IPL record that hasn’t been broken yet. Pragyan Ojha’s left-arm spin was no match for a big-hitting Morkel. Tossed in the direction of Morkel’s pads, the batter unfurled a 125-meter monster hit over deep midwicket and out of the Chepauk Stadium. This remains, to date, the longest six in IPL.

2. Praveen Kumar - 124 meters (RCB vs RR, 2008)
Praveen Kumar is one of the most surprising names in the list of longest sixes in the Indian T20 League. Despite big names like Gayle, Kohli and AB de Villiers, it is Praveen who has hit the longest six for the Bangalore team. During a match in the 2008 season, Kumar clubbed Yusuf Pathan over long-on that missed hitting the roof only by a whisker.
3. Adam Gilchrist - 122 meters (Punjab vs RCB, 2011)
At Dharamsala, one of the most picturesque stadiums in the world, Gilchrist spotted the slower ball of Langeveldt early and played one of his trademark flicks over midwicket. The ball not only cleared the ropes but also went out of the stadium, probably ending up in the plains somewhere.
4. Robin Uthappa - 120 meters (RCB vs MI, 2010)
For the past 15 years, Dwayne Bravo was one of the most skillful and successful death-overs bowlers in the Indian T20 League. But he was on the receiving end of one of the biggest hits in the tournament’s history. A length ball on the stumps was spotted early by Robin Uthappa, who hit the ball with such force that it disappeared deep into the crowd at the Wankhede Stadium.

5. Chris Gayle - 119 meters (RCB vs Pune, 2013)
Even a train may not have been able to stop Gayle that day; Such was his awesome hitting on his way to an incredible 66-ball 175*. He smashed 17 sixes, the longest of them measured at a whopping 119 meters. Left-arm spinner Ali Murtaza pushed one into the slot, and the cleanest of swings from Gayle sent the ball soaring over long-on on to the roof of the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
