17 Sep 2023 Sri Lanka recorded the lowest team score in Asia Cup history. Sri Lanka scored 50 runs in 15.2 overs against India in the Final of the 2023 Asia Cup at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. Siraj took 6/21 and Hardik took 3/3.

The 2023 Asia Cup will be co-hosted (for the first time) by Pakistan and Sri Lanka from 30 Aug to 17 Sep 2023. This edition will be in ODI format as part of the Asia Cup rotation policy according to the upcoming World Cup.

1) Sri Lanka: 50 (vs India, Sharjah 1984)

Sri Lanka’s 50 is the lowest score in the Asia Cup history. Batting first, Sri Lanka were all out for 50 runs in just 15.2 overs. India’s Mohammad Siraj took 6 wickets and Hardik Pandya picked up 3 wickets. Kusal Mendis was the top-scorer with 17 runs. India won by 10 wickets.

2) Bangladesh: 87 (vs Pakistan, Dhaka 2000)

Bangladesh holds the record for the second-lowest total in Asia Cup history. Chasing a target of 321 against Pakistan during the 2000 Asia Cup group match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dhaka, Bangladesh could only score 87 in 34.2 overs. Abdul Razzaq destroyed the Bangla batting order with his spell of 3/5 in 4 overs.

3) Bangladesh: 94 (vs Pakistan, Moratuwa 1986)

Bangladesh is also third on the list with a total of only 94 runs. Batting first on a fresh pitch vs Pakistan in the 1986 Asia Cup group match, Wasim Akram’s spell of 4/19 helped dismiss the Bangla batters for 94. Pakistan chased down the total inside 33 overs with 7 wickets remaining.

4) Sri Lanka: 96 (vs India, Sharjah 1984)

Sri Lanka’s 96 is the fourth-lowest score in the Asia Cup history. Batting first, Sri Lanka were all out for 96 runs in 41 overs. India’s Madan Lal and Chetan Sharma picked up 3 wickets each. India won the match by 10 wickets.

5) Bangladesh: 99 (vs India, Chattogram 1988)

Bangladesh featured for the third-time in the top 5 lowest scores in Asia Cup history. On 27 October 1988 at the M.A.Aziz Stadium, Chittagong, Bangladesh batted first but could only score 99 runs in 45 overs. India won the match by a comfortable margin of 9 wickets in 26 overs.
