14 Mar 2024 Mumbai beat Vidarbha by 169 runs in the final of the Ranji Trophy 2024. Musheer Khan (MUM) was the Player of the match for his 136 runs & 2 wickets. This is Mumbai's record 42nd Ranji Trophy title and first in 8 years. 

The 89th edition of the Ranji Trophy will be played from 5 January to 12 March 2024 in India. It is the premier domestic first-class (four day) competition organized by the BCCI. The first season was played in 1934 and the championship currently consists of 38 teams representing different states, regions and cities across India.

Ranji Trophy 2024 Schedule

The 2024 edition of the Ranji Trophy will have 138 games (127 group-stage matches and 11 knockout fixtures) played during the tournament. All matches have a start time of 9:30 AM IST.

In the group stage, every team will play each other in a single round-robin format. In the Elite group, the top 2 teams will qualify for the knockouts - 4 quarter finals, 2 semifinals, followed by the final. The final will be played from 10-14 March 2024. In the Plate group, the top 4 teams will qualify for the knockouts - 2 semifinals, followed by the final.

Ranji Trophy 2024 Format

Like last season, the promotion and relegation format is used in the 2024 season. The teams are divided into two groups - Elite group of 32 teams split into four groups, and Plate group of 6 teams. 

In each Elite group, every team plays all the other teams once (7 matches), with the top two teams qualifying for the quarter-finals. Similarly, teams played each other once in the Plate Group (5 matches), with the top four teams qualifying for the plate group knockouts. 

The two Plate finalists will be promoted to the Elite group next season. In contrast, the bottom two teams of all the four Elite groups combined will be relegated to the Plate group.
