The Men's T20 World Cup 2024 kicks off in the West Indies and USA on 1 June 2024. This will be the 9th edition of the T20 World Cup tournament. USA will host the tournament for the first time and the first T20 World Cup to feature 20 teams and an expanded format.
England are the defending champions, defeating Pakistan in the final of the 2022 T20 World Cup. The tournament is scheduled to begin on 1 June 2024, with the final to be played on 29 June 2024.

T20 World Cup 2024 Teams
A total of 20 teams will participate in the T20 World Cup 2024. The top eight teams from the 2022 T20 World Cup and 2 hosts automatically qualified for the 2024 tournament. Two teams qualified by the T20I team rankings, and 8 qualified through the regional qualifiers.
West Indies, USA, Australia, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, England, New Zealand, Netherlands, Sri Lanka and South Africa have qualified directly for the tournament.
The remaining eight teams - Namibia, Uganda, Scotland, Ireland, Nepal, Oman, Papua New Guinea, and Canada join them in the group stage. USA, Uganda and Canada are making their debut in the T20 World Cup.
T20 World Cup 2024 Format
The 20 teams are divided into four groups of five. The top two teams in each group will advance to the Super 8 stage. In this stage, the eight teams will be split into two groups of four; the top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockout stage - two semi-finals and a final.
Semi-finals
The first semi-final will be held at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Trinidad, while the second semi-final will be hosted by the Providence Stadium, Guyana on 27th June. Only semifinal 1 has a reserve day.
Final
The final of the tournament will take place at the picturesque Kensington Oval on 29th June at 8 PM IST, with the next day kept as the reserve day.

T20 World Cup 2024 Super 8 Stage
The top-ranked teams are seeded in the group stage and will carry the same seeding to the Super 8 stage irrespective of where they finish 1st or 2nd in the group. In case the seeded team is knocked out, the other team will acquire the seeding from them.
Based on the seeding, India, Australia, Afghanistan and Bangladesh are in Group 1, while USA, England, West Indies and South Africa are in Group 2.
2024 T20 World Cup Super 8 Match Schedule
The Super 8 round will start at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, Antigua on 19 June, 2024. The final match of the Super 8 round will be at the Arnos Vale Ground, St. Vincent on 25 June 2024.

Each team will play in a single round-robin format against the four teams in their respective group. A total of 40 group matches will take place from 1 to 17 June 2024.
T20 World Cup 2024 Venues
The T20 World Cup 2024 matches will be played at nine venues across the USA and West Indies. Dallas, Lauderhill and New York will host a total of 16 group stage matches and 39 matches will be played in the Caribbean islands.
The two semi-finals are scheduled to be played at the Providence Stadium, Guyana and Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Trinidad on 26 and 27 June with the final scheduled at the Kensington Oval, Barbados on 29 June 2024.

The tournament will begin with a Group A match between hosts USA and Canada in Dallas at 6 AM IST on 2 June 2024.
