The 48th edition of the South American Championships will be played in the USA from 20 June to 14 July, 2024. A total of 16 teams will take part in the Copa America 2024. Lionel Messi and Argentina are the champions, beating Colombia in the Copa America 2024 final by 1-0.
The 2024 tournament is being held in the United States due to a strategic partnership between CONMEBOL and CONCACAF to strengthen and develop the sport in both regions. This tournament is also preparation for the 2026 Football World Cup, to be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Copa America Past Winners
Argentina have won the Copa America record 16 times. Uruguay is second with 15 titles. Brazil have won the title 9 times. Paraguay (1953 and 1979), Chile (2015 and 2016) and Peru (1939 and 1975) have won it twice. Bolivia (1963) and Colombia (2001) won the trophy once, the edition they hosted.

Copa America 2024 Format
The 16 teams are divided into four groups of four teams. In the league stage, each team will play the other three teams of the group in a single-round robin format. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockout round. There will be a round of quarter-finals, semifinals, and the final. There will also be a third-place match.
Copa America 2024 Groups and Teams
16 teams – ten from CONMEBOL (South America) and six from CONCACAF (North America) will take part in the tournament. The six teams from CONCACAF qualified through the Nations League.
Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela represent the CONMEBOL region. Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, USA, Canada and Costa Rica represent CONCACAF.

USA will host the Copa America for the second time, after hosting the 2016 edition of Copa America Centenario, which celebrated the South American championship's 100th anniversary. 32 matches will take place across 14 stadiums in the USA. The host cities are Arlington, Atlanta, Austin, Charlotte, East Rutherford, Houston, Inglewood, Santa Clara, Glendale, Las Vegas, Kansas City, Miami and Orlando.
The Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta will host the opening match, while the final will be played at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. East Rutherford and Charlotte will host the two semi finals.

Copa America 2024 Schedule
The tournament will begin with defending champions Argentina facing Canada in a Group A clash at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta on June 21 (5:30 AM IST). Brazil plays its first match in Group D against Costa Rica on June 25 (6:30 AM IST). The final is scheduled for Hard Rock Stadium, Miami on July 15 at 5:30 AM IST.
Quarterfinals will start on 4 July, semifinals on 9 July and the all-important final takes place on 14 July (15 July in India). The matches will kick off at 3:30am, 5:30am and 6:30am IST (India Standard Time).
