The first match of the tournament will be played between hosts Qatar and Ecuador at Al Bayt Stadium, Doha. The final is due to be held on 18 December 2022, Qatar National Day. The reigning World Cup champions are France, who won the 2018 World Cup.

2022 World Cup Matches Kick Off Times
The first two rounds of matches will kick off at 3.30pm, 6.30pm, 9.30pm and 12.30pm IST (India Standard Time). The final round of group games and knockout-round matches have kick-off times of 8.30pm and 12.30am IST. The semi finals are scheduled to kick off at 12.30am Indian time while the 3rd place match and final is scheduled to kick off at 8.30pm Indian time.
