The 15th edition of the Indian T20 League is over but cricket action is going to continue for Indian cricket players. Team India has a packed schedule till the T20 World Cup in October. The next assignment for them is a five-match T20I series against South Africa at home. The India vs South Africa series will start on June 9 and will finish on June 19, 2022. 

The Men in Blue will then tour Ireland for two T20Is on June 26 and 28. After that, India and England will lock horns in one Test (rescheduled from 2021) and six limited-overs matches (3 T20Is and 3 ODIs) from July 1 to July 17.

India then have the tour of the West Indies and the Asia Cup in the lead up to the T20 World Cup, which is set to be played in Australia in October-November 2022. The team failed to make it to the semifinals in the previous edition of the tournament.

India vs South Africa Match Schedule 2022

The opening two matches of the India vs. South Africa T20 series will be hosted by Delhi and Cuttack on June 9 and 12, respectively. The action then shifts to Vizag, where the third T20I is to be played on June 14. The tour will conclude with the last two T20Is to be hosted by Rajkot and Bengaluru on June 17 and 19, respectively. All the matches will start at 7:00 PM IST.

Both India and South Africa team squads have been named for the upcoming five-match T20 series, which will begin on June 9 in Delhi. These are all very crucial matches in the build-up to the T20 World Cup, which will be played in October and November in Australia.

India Team T20 Squad for South Africa Series

The big names like R. Sharma, V. Kohli, R. Jadeja and J. Bumrah are rested and are expected to be on the flight to England for the rescheduled Test remaining from the last year tour. R. Pant has been named the captain (replacing injured KL. Rahul) for the series against South Africa.

Youngsters U. Malik and A. Singh were impressive in the Indian T20 League this year and have been provided call-ups for the series against South Africa. It will be a great opportunity for them to excel on the international stage, ahead of the mega event (T20 World Cup 2022). The spin duo of K. Yadav and Y. Chahal was outstanding this year and is back in the team as well.

D. Karthik, who was in excellent form for Bangalore, and Gujarat winning captain H. Pandya have returned to the Indian squad. Pandya’s leadership skills and all-round abilities will be crucial to Team India’s plans in the build-up to the T20 World Cup 2022 squad.

South Africa Team T20 Squad for India Series

South Africa have announced a strong 16-player squad for the T20 series against India, which starts on June 9. This will be South Africa and skipper Temba Bavuma’s first T20I assignment since the 2021 T20 World Cup. While the selectors have gone with most of the first-choice names, there are some interesting inclusions also.

T. Stubbs has received his maiden Proteas call-up, having impressed in the domestic circuit in recent matches. Pace-bowling all-rounder W. Parnell is making a comeback into the T20 squad since 2017. A. Nortje has also made a return to the team after recovering from injury.

Regular players in the squad like Q. de Kock, A. Markram, D. Miller and K. Rabada have done well for their respective franchises in the just-concluded Indian T20 League 2022 and will be filled with confidence to do the same for their national team.
