Asia Cup 2023

The Men’s Asia Cup is the only continental championship of ODI cricket. It takes place between the cricketing nations of the Asian continent and the winning team becomes the champion of Asia. The Asia Cup generally takes place every two years and is rotated between ODI and T20I format.

The last edition of the Asia Cup (in T20I format) was played in 2022 in UAE, where Sri Lanka won their sixth Asia Cup title. 15 Asia Cups have been played so far, and India are the record 7-time winners. The last ODI Asia Cup was played in UAE in 2018, where India beat Bangladesh.

The Asia Cup 2023 will be hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka from August 30 to September 17, 2023. The 2023 tournament consists of 6 teams - India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Nepal, who qualified for the first time after winning the 2023 Men’s Premier Cup.

Asia Cup 2023 Format

6 teams are divided into two groups. Every team in the group will play against each other once. for a total of 6 group matches. At the end of the group stage, the top 2 teams from each group will qualify for the Super 4.

Asia Cup 2023 Groups

Pakistan and India are seeded as A1 and A2, while Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are seeded as B1 and B2. In case Nepal and Afghanistan qualify for the Super Four stage, they will take the slot of the team knocked out (Pakistan or India in Group A and Sri Lanka or Bangladesh in Group B).

Asia Cup 2023 Super Four

In the Super Four stage, every team will again play against each other once. There will be a total of 6 Super 4 matches. At the end of the Super 4 stage, the top 2 teams will qualify for the Asia Cup 2023 final.

Asia Cup 2023 Schedule

The tournament is scheduled to begin on 30th August 2023, with the Pakistan vs Nepal opening match in Multan. India vs. Pakistan match will be played on 2 September at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Kandy.

All the matches will be day/night and will start at 3 PM IST. The final of the tournament will take place in Colombo on 17th September 2023. The final has a reserve day.
