Hyderabad Indian T20 League Team
For half a decade, starting in 2016 when they won the Indian T20 League for the first and only time, Hyderabad were remarkably consistent, making it to the play-offs for 5 straight seasons. However, in 2021 the team finished last in the points table.
Brian Lara is the current head coach, and is currently assisted by Dale Steyn and Muttiah Muralitharan in the bowling department.
Can a fresh new squad and a new captain bring the team success after the disappointment of last season? Only time will tell. But letâs take a closer look at the team, its history and performance in the Indian T20 League since the inception of the league.
Team Hyderabad Origin
Founded in 2012 after the Deccan franchise was terminated, the Hyderabad team first played in the league in 2013. A few other centers have hosted Hyderabadâs home games, but their base remains the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on the outskirts of the city.
Team Hyderabad Owners
Though the SUN Group-owned franchise joined the Indian T20 League only in 2013, the latest figures published in 2021 suggest that itâs now the seventh-most valuable franchise in the competition.
Aiden Markram: Hyderabad Team Captain
Aiden Markram made his Indian T20 League debut for Team Punjab during the second leg of the 2021 edition in the UAE. After one season, he was bought by Hyderabad in the 2022 auction. Markram captained the Hyderabad sister team, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, in the SA20 2023 and won the title in its first season.
