Rajasthan Indian T20 League Team

Winners of the inaugural Indian T20 League in 2008, Rajasthan have reached the play-offs on four other occasions. After three poor seasons from 2019 to 2021, including finishing rock-bottom for the first time in 2020, they ended up as runner up in the 2022 season.

Led by the talented wicketkeeper batter Sanju Samson, the team have assembled a good squad in the 2022 mini auction. Devdutt Padikkal joins Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler at the top of the order. Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Ashwin and Trent Boult offer plenty of wicket-taking potential.

With their assortment of coaches reporting to Kumar Sangakkara, Rajasthan are one of those franchises set up to make the most of their resources. Can Rajasthan win their first title since 2008 and bring home the trophy back home once again? The next two months will tell.

Team Rajasthan Origin

Founded in 2008, the Rajasthan team was banned for two seasons (2016-17) because of a previous co-owner’s involvement in a corruption scandal. Their home ground is the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, a fortress given how often they’ve dominated their opponents here.

Sanju Samson: Rajasthan Team Captain

A regular in the Rajasthan ranks since he was 18, there has never been any doubt about Samson’s talent. His struggle has been to match that with consistent performances. Only twice, in 2018 and 2021, has he crossed 400 runs in a season. But the responsibility of being a leader might just spur him to greater heights as a batter.
