BCCI announced India Men's 16-member squad for the 1st Test of the 2-match Test series against Bangladesh, to be played from 19 Sep to 1 October 2024. Chennai and Kanpur are the two venues for the series. This series is part of the 2023-25 World Test Championship. A 3-match T20I series is also scheduled after the Test series.
Rohit Sharma will captain the India team. Left-arm seamer Yash Dayal has received his maiden Test call-up. Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul are also back in the Test squad.
Pacer Akash Deep, batter Sarfaraz Khan and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel keeps their place. Rajat Patidar, Mukesh Kumar, Washington Sundar and Devdutt Padikkal are the players left out from the last series played against England.
Jaiswal, Kohli, Gill are the other specialist batters in the squad. Ashwin, Jadeja and Axar are the spin-bowling all-rounders, alongside specialist spinner Kuldeep Yadav. Bumrah and Siraj are the two experienced pacers.
