11 Feb 2024 Australia beat India by 79 runs in the Final of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2024 at Benoni. Mahli Beardman (AUS) was the Player of the Match for his spell of 3/15. Australia won its 4th U19 World Cup title, first since 2010.

The Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup 2024 kicks off in South Africa on 19 January 2024. This will be the 15th edition of the U-19 Cricket World Cup tournament. Sri Lanka were the original hosts but later removed due to suspension of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board by the ICC. South Africa will host the tournament for the third time after 1998 and 2020.

India are the defending champions, defeating England in the final of the 2022 Under-19 World Cup by 4 wickets. The tournament is scheduled to begin on 19 January 2024, with the final to be played on 11 February 2024.

Under 19 Cricket World Cup 2024 Teams

A total of 16 teams will participate in the Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024. The top eleven teams from the 2022 U-19 World Cup standings and hosts automatically qualified for the 2024 tournament. The remaining five teams qualified through the regional qualifiers.

South Africa, Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Ireland, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Zimbabwe have qualified directly for the tournament. The remaining five teams - Namibia, Nepal, New Zealand, Scotland and USA join them in the group stage.

2024 Under-19 Cricket World Cup Format

The tournament will see a new format being implemented this edition. The 16 teams are divided into four groups of four. The top three teams in each group will advance to the Super 6 stage.

In the new Super Six stage, the twelve teams will be split into two groups of six; teams from Group A and D will be in one group and teams from Group B and C will be in the second group. Each team will play two matches against the teams from the corresponding group that finished in a different position for their (i.e. A1 will play only D2 and D3, A2 will play only D1 and D3).

The top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockout stage - two semi-finals and a final.

The top three teams from each group qualified for the Super Six stage and will carry the same seeding. Teams from A and D will be in Group 1 and the teams from B and C will be in Group 2. A total of 12 matches will take place from 30 January to 3 February 2024 in this stage.

2024 Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Group Stage Schedule

The tournament will begin with Group A match between Ireland and USA in Bloemfontein and Group B match between hosts South Africa and West Indies in Potchefstroom on 19 January.

India vs Bangladesh is on 20 Jan at Bloemfontein, with Group D’s opening match between Afghanistan and Pakistan is on the same day in East London. Australia take on Sri Lanka in Group C’s final match on 28 Jan at Kimberley.
