The Caribbean T20 League 2021 is set to begin on 26th August and the final squads of all the six franchises have been announced. The complete tournament will be entirely played at one venue: Warner Park in Basseterre, St Kitts.
There have been a number of changes to the final squad of most of the teams. Dwayne Bravo, who moved to St Kitts and Nevis Patriots this season, will partner with T20 superstars like Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis. The franchise has also signed Ravi Bopara, Fawad Ahmed, Asif Ali and Paul van Meerekan as their overseas picks.
Guyana Amazon Warriors have a new captain in Nicholas Pooran. The experienced trio of Shoaib Malik, Imran Tahir and Mohammad Hafeez and Waqar Salamkheil of Afghanistan will be the overseas players for the team this year. South African duo of Anrich Nortje and Rassie van der Dussen will miss the season because of the upcoming tour against Sri Lanka.
Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir Shah has replaced Sandeep Lamicchane of Nepal in the final squad of the defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders. They will have Colin Munro, Isuru Udana and Tim Seifert as their overseas players for this season.
Jamaica Tallawahs have local stars like Carlos Brathwaite and Andre Russell, along with Haider Ali, Chris Green and Qais Ahmed as their overseas players.
After the acquisition by the different Indian T20 teams, Barbados Tridents have been named Barbados Royals, while St Lucia Zouks have been named St. Lucia Kings.
Barbados Royals will be led by Jason Holder and have Thisara Perera, Mohammad Amir, Azam Khan and Glenn Philips as their main players. Chris Morris will miss the tournament due to personal reasons.
St Lucia Kings will be led by South Africa’s Faf du Plessis, with Pakistan’s Wahab Riaz, Usman Qadir and England’s Samit Patel as some of the other overseas stars.
Over the last eight years, the Caribbean T20 League has been a tremendous success and has provided entertaining cricket for the cricket fans worldwide. The upcoming 2021 edition is expected to continue doing the same. The opening match of the season will be played between Guyana and defending champions Trinbago.
