Chelsea hosts the spirited Leeds United at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Saturday night.

Chelsea have started their premier league campaign well and have 19 points from 10 games. They are just two points short of the top spot. The Blues bounced back from the goalless draw against Tottenham last weekend with a 4-0 demolition of Sevilla in the Champions League in the midweek. O Giroud helped himself to all of the goals in that game.

Although Leeds have already proved themselves more than capable of breaching the best defenses in the league this season, it is difficult to predict which Leeds will turn up, though. Their inconsistency as far as results are concerned is visible in the league table: four wins, four defeats, and two draws.

Nevertheless, they are closer to the top of the table than they are to the relegation zone, which is a position they would have gladly accepted had it been offered to them before the start of the season.

In the 24 head-to-head games between the two teams, the record is equal, with each team winning 8 games and 8 matches drawn.

Match Facts

Chelsea won their last games against Leeds in all competitions, winning 5-1 at Elland Road in the EFL Cup in Dec. 2012. This will be the first league meeting between the two sides since a 1-0 win for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in May 2004.

Only Tottenham (9) are on a longer unbeaten run in the Premier League than Chelsea (8), while no side has kept more clean sheets than the Blues in the league this season (5).

Leeds have won just one of their last 21 away league games against London teams (D6, L14), last beating QPR 3-1 in Dec. 2017. In the top division, the Whites have lost their last four games in the capital by an aggregate score of 1-12.

Leeds have won three of their five Premier League away games this season (L2), as many as they had in the whole of their previous campaign in 2003-04 (W3, D2, L14). The Whites have kept a clean sheet in each of these three victories.

Only H-Min Son (7) and J Vardy (7) have scored more away Premier League goals than Leeds’ P Bamford this season, with six of his seven strikes in the competition coming in away games.

Match Prediction

Chelsea are in dominant form and are starting to look like real contenders for the title as they remain undefeated in eight games in a row in the league. Their midweek hammering of Sevilla will only have boosted their confidence.

Despite Leeds coming into the game on the back of a win over Everton, the Blues might be too much for them on Saturday.
