DELHI VS. BANGALORE

This Indian T20 League clash pits 2 teams just outside the play-off picture for the moment. Both made the last 4 in 2021, but had inconsistent seasons so far. Bangalore’s 3-game winning streak was ended by Chennai, the struggling defending champions, while Delhi got themselves to 4 points by crushing high-flying Kolkata.

Delhi are undoubtedly a stronger side with D. Warner at the top of the order alongside P. Shaw. K. Yadav leads a bowling line-up that has done decently so far, but the team needs much more from R. Pant, whose hitting can transform matches in any format.

Bangalore Team has been boosted by the return from international duty of G. Maxwell and J. Hazlewood. Maxwell was a game-changer for them last season, while Hazlewood’s accuracy and height give them a potent option with new ball and old. But the real star so far has been D. Karthik with his smashing innings as a finisher.

The Wankhede has trickier pitches to play on this season, and should offer a good test of both batting line-ups. The key could well be whether Bangalore have H. Patel available again. When last season’s leading wicket-taker plays, they’re a far better balanced side.

TOP FANTASY PICKS For Delhi vs. Bangalore Match

Team Delhi

  • P. Shaw has made a decent start to the season, with 160 runs in 4 matches. That they’ve come at a strike-rate of 170.21 shows how well he’s been hitting the ball. His partnership with D. Warner will be crucial going forward.
  • D. Warner won 3 Orange Caps for leading run-scorer with Hyderabad. It hasn’t take long to adjust to being back with Delhi. His 45-ball 61 against Kolkata showcased a welcome return to form after a poor 2021 season.
  • K. Yadav hasn’t had the best of time in the past couple of seasons. But after leaving the Kolkata team, he has settled straight away into a new environment. He has 10 wickets from just 4 games, at an economy rate of 7.40.

Team Bangalore

  • V. Kohli has yet to get going this season. But with the spotlight on others like G. Maxwell and D. Karthik, Kohli can focus on working his way back to his best form. And that, as we’ve seen in the past, is quite special.
  • G. Maxwell made such an impact during his 11-ball 26 against Chennai that another over of his hitting may well have allowed 216 to be chased down. He’s that sort of player and he seems to have found a home in the Bangalore team.
  • J. Hazlewood played his first game of the season last match. He bowled well with the new ball and took the key wicket of R. Gaikwad in his second over. His economy rate of 8.25 is more than respectable in the game where more than 400 runs were scored.
