Over the last few years, England have set the standard in white-ball cricket, winning the 50-over World Cup in 2019 and setting a host of batting records. But with the T20 World Cup just three months away, India have shown that they’ll be a match for anyone by compiling a 15-2 win-loss record since the last World Cup. They have now won 5 of their last 6 games against England. 

Two huge wins, at Southampton and Birmingham, have already sealed the series, and it remains to be seen which big names India might rest in Nottingham. The experiment with R. Pant as opener is likely to continue, but will India play V. Kohli instead of giving a chance to the in-form D. Hooda? 

England's top-order batting has been dismal, and the failure of the dynamic duo of J. Buttler and J. Roy has played a big part in two crushing defeats. The bowling too has been sloppy, except for C. Jordan and R. Gleeson, and they look a long way short of being World Cup contenders at the moment.

For India, one of the other huge positives has been B. Kumar’s return to his best. Y. Chahal continues to ask questions of the best batters, and Bumrah seems to have put an average Indian T20 League behind him.  If India can seal a 3-0 sweep against a top side, it will be a huge boost in a World Cup year.
