The Pataudi Trophy
The Pataudi Trophy is awarded to the winner of the Test series between England and India played in England. It was first awarded in 2007 to commemorate the span of 75 years spent since the first Test match between the two sides. If a series is drawn, the country holding the Pataudi Trophy retains it.
The trophy is named after the Pataudi cricketing family. Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi is the only man to have played for both England and India. Iftikhar's son Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was a long-term captain of the Indian side in the 1960s and 1970s. The Pataudi Trophy is presented to the victorious team as a symbol of its victory. Prior to the trophy's inception, India played 14 series in England. The overall record was 11 English victories, 2 Indian victories and 1 drawn series.
England team currently hold the trophy after retaining it during the 2018 Test series, which they won 4â1. India won the Pataudi Trophy in England in 2007 and lead the current Test series by a margin of 2-1, with only one Test remaining.
